The reason a resurface actually lasts 15 years.
01Owner-run water chemistry
Startup and 30-day chemistry monitoring — the make-or-break window that determines whether a fresh finish stays smooth or turns into a $12K rework.
02Electrical + plumbing in-house
Pump conversions, salt cells, LED lighting, and automation wired by Aldo’s own crew under FL EC #13015530 and CFC #1434398 — not the pool guy calling “his electrician”.
03Coping + deck coordinated
If you’re re-tiling the waterline, the coping is coming off. If the coping’s off, the deck should get resurfaced. We plan the whole thing so you pay for one mobilization, not three.
04Fixed-bid, never T&M
Every line signed at contract. No allowance games. Change orders require your signature before any work happens.
Pool Renovations · the questions Aldo answers every week.
What’s the difference between pool renovation and pool construction?
Pool renovation is work on an existing pool: resurfacing the interior, replacing tile and coping, upgrading pumps, and modernizing the equipment pad. Pool construction is a new build from excavation forward. For new pool builds, see our pool construction page.
How long does a pool renovation take?
Four to eight weeks depending on scope. A simple resurface with new tile is four; a full re-do with coping, deck resurfacing, and equipment pad upgrades is seven or eight. Every fixed-bid commits to a specific window in writing.
Pebble Tec, plaster, or Diamond Brite — which finish?
Depends on your priorities. Diamond Brite is smooth and cost-effective (10–12 year life). Pebble Sheen or Pebble Tec is more durable (15–20 years) with a textured surface. We walk through options with real cost and life-cycle numbers before you decide.
Should I switch to a variable-speed pump and salt system?
For most pools, yes. Variable-speed pumps pay back in 12–18 months on FPL bills. Salt systems eliminate chlorine handling and produce gentler water. Both are code-supported and priced into the renovation bid when they make sense.
